* Due to an unexpected medical issue, Rabbi Earl Grollman was unable to speak as scheduled at the "Living with Loss, Healing with Hope" conference. Rabbi Grollman's colleague, Reverend Richard B. Gilbert, D.Min., Ph.D., agreed to be the "substitute" presenter.

Dr. Gilbert is an experienced speaker, having presented nationally and internationally. An Anglican priest and prolific writer, Dr. Gilbert serves as a Visiting Professor of Pastoral Psychology for the Graduate Theological Foundation. He is also a member of the faculties of Mercy College (NY) and Benedictine University (IL). His books include "HeartPeace: Healing Help for Grieving Folk", "Responding to Grief: A Complete Resource Guide" and "Finding Your Way After Your Parent Dies: Hope for Adults."

Objectives for this conference:
Participants will be able to:
  • Review trusted techniques and learn new techniques for grief counseling
  • Understand where we have come from historically in grief counseling and where this is leading
  • Explore losses throughout our lives
  • Explore losses of all ages including children and the aging
  • Understand the grief of those shattered by natural and unnatural disasters and suicide
  • Explore needs of the professional caregivers providing care to the dying and bereaved

Target Audience: Grief Counselors, Psychologists, Funeral Directors, Nurses, Chaplains, Social Workers, Doctors, Clergy, Stephen Ministers, Pastoral Care Volunteers, grieving persons, persons who want to enhance their skills to support grieving persons.

Continuing Education Units:

Directions to Conference Center:
From I-270 take Exit 8 - Shady Grove Road West.
If you were going North on I-270, turn left onto Shady Grove.
If you were going South on I-270, turn right onto Shady Grove Road.
Go 1.5 miles, cross the intersection of Route 28 (Darnestown Rd.)
Turn right onto Gudelsky Way.
Turn left onto Gudelsky Drive.
Follow road around to the back of the campus.
Enter Building 1 (9640 Gudelsky Way) and follow signs to conference center which is in Building 2 (9630 Gudelsky Way). The buildings are connected by a covered walkway.
