Monica Escalante

Vice President of Volunteers, Community Education and Outreach

Monica has been working in end-of-life care since 2001. She first worked as a volunteer and in August 2001 was hired as volunteer manager. Monica was named VP of Volunteers, Community Education and Outreach in 2007.

Monica has extensive background in marketing research; she has conducted both qualitative and quantitative research in the Latino community nationwide on various health issues such as mental health, substance abuse, cancer prevention, and aging (for agencies including SAMHSA, CSAT, NIH, and NIA).

Monica is interested in developing partnerships with local organizations, faith-based institutions, and minority groups. In 2006 she presented the innovative Boomer-Friendly Volunteer Recruitment and Management model at the 5th National Conference on Volunteerism and Family Caregiving in Denver, CO. Monica is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization National Veteran Advisory Group.

She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Masters of Science in Marketing and has a Masters in Public Policy and Management from the Catholic University (Bolivia) & Harvard University.
